GIS Data on GROMIT
For users with an MVZ server account, login and access the GIS directory via: \\gromit.mvz.berkeley.edu\GISDataPortal\
If you have ArcGIS 9.2 installed, then use ArcCatalog to browse, preview data, and copy to your local harddrive. First time users will have to make a new Folder Connection (File>Connect Folder or the shortcut button), then copy the path above into the browse window. The network path will show as a drive option in the directory tree panel.

For high-resolution Elevation Data (DEM, NED, SRTM) and other landcover layers, use USGS Seamless Server. Coverage includes both US and the world; server has both graphical map or coordinate defined downloads.
